چکیده

The introduction of Additive Manufacturing (AM) is changing the way in which components and machines can be designed manufactured. Within this context, designers are taking advantage possibilities producing parts via addition material, defining strategies, exploring alternative design or optimization solutions (i.e., nonviable using subtractive technologies) critical (e.g., gears shafts). However, a safe effective requires specific resistance data that, due to intrinsic modernity additive technologies, not always present literature. This paper presents results an experimental campaign performed on gear-samples made by 17-4 PH produced Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB/M). tests were executed Single Tooth Bending Fatigue (STBF) approach mechanical pulsator. fatigue limit was determined two different statistical approaches according Dixon Little. obtained compared those reported ISO standard for steels similar performance. Additional analyses, i.e., Scanning Electron Microscopy SEM, carried out provide further insight behavior 17-4PH AM material order investigate presence possible defects tested gears, responsible final failure.

Process Mapping, Fracture and Fatigue Behavior of Ti-6al-4v Produced by Ebm Additive Manufacturing

The present work was conducted as part of a larger America Makes funded project to begin to examine the effects of changes in process variables on the resulting microstructure and fracture and fatigue behavior of as-deposited Ti-6Al-4V. In addition to presenting initial results on process mapping of the electron beam powder bed process, the present work also documents the location-dependent pro...

High-temperature Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of 17-4 Ph Stainless Steels

The fatigue crack growth (FCG) behavior was investigated for 17-4 PH stainless steels in three heat-treated conditions, i.e., unaged (Condition A), peak-aged (Condition H900), and overaged (Condition H1150), at temperatures ranging from 300 to 500 C. The high-temperature fatigue crack growth rates (FCGRs) of Condition H1150 were increased with an increase in temperature. However, for Conditions...

Residual stress measurements via neutron diffraction of additive manufactured stainless steel 17-4 PH

Neutron diffraction was employed to measure internal residual stresses at various locations along stainless steel (SS) 17-4 PH specimens additively manufactured via laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF). Of these specimens, two were rods (diameter=8 mm, length=80 mm) built vertically upward and one a parallelepiped (8×80×9 mm3) built with its longest edge parallel to ground. One rod and the parallele...
